I should have posted this earlier but been busy.

There's this one scene in the current Dim Sum Dollies production (5-15 July at the Esplanade) where they do a blues number. I play the harmonica part in this scene. It's been fun so far.

The show is really hilarious with a great cast. This is no high-brow arty musical, it's really a very light-hearted production with plenty of local flavour. If you want a night of laughs, go catch it.

This was in the recent May issue of TIME.

I found it to be well written and an interesting read. Never knew he had the so many brushes with death. He's lived the life of a bluesman for sure. Finally some recognition for the man.

Thoughts on reverb

As much as I love that modern day reverbless Jimmie Vaughan tone, I've recently gotten more into reverb tones.

Some will say that if a rig is good enough, you don't need reverb. But lately, I tend to think otherwise. I mean just listen to Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game", and you can never forget that haunting, spacious lead guitar tone (although I've read that the reverb tone was produced with much more complex techniques than a simple amp reverb).

It wasn't too long ago when you could open a newspaper or a magazine and read about the future of music described as follows: You walk into a Virgin Megastore, a Tower Records, or a Starbucks, head to the music kiosk, search a digital music database for a dozen or so tunes you want on a mix, burn the disc then and there, design or import the packaging (liner notes, art on the CD surface, etc.), and then pay for it.
